Harp Recital

Vienna visits Leipzig: the cultural association forma Leipzig invites you to a harp recital of a special kind. Miriam Overlach, solo harpist of the renowned Klangforum Wien since 2023, presents new and recent works for her instrument—fresh water for the repertoire, as the harpist takes a leap into the deep.

Born in Hanover, trained in Amsterdam, and now Professor at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, Overlach has long been closely associated with the contemporary repertoire. She has commissioned and given the world premieres of numerous works; through her online resource composingforharp.com, she actively promotes the creation of new music for the harp. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed under Pierre Boulez and Peter Eötvös and with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Ensemble Modern.

On this evening, cassette tapes and videotapes, water glasses and a massage device become partners of the harp. The audience is invited to explore uncharted territory together with the soloist—in sound worlds that were, in part, created especially for her.
