Forma’s main goal is to encourage and support young artists by giving them opportunities to present themselves and their work in and around the city of Leipzig. To broaden our horizons, we are also planning collaborations with artists from around Germany and abroad.
forma Leipzig e. V., a registered association, was founded by Music Composition students in 2010 and consists mainly of students of the University of music and theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” (HMT), the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) and the German Creative Writing Program (DLL) in Leipzig.
We focus not only on the exchange between artists but also, and particularly, on the dialogue between the artists and the audience.
We achieve this by inviting the public to attend rehearsals and presentations where we encourage open discussion.
Of momentous importance for forma was the founding of the ensemble forma Leipzig, which focuses on performing the latest contemporary music.
We strongly believe that by foregoing any kind of entry fees at our concerts and events we encourage people to come into contact with contemporary art and overcome barriers. Since forma Leipzig is a nonprofit organization and all our members work on a voluntary basis, any kind of funding or financial support is essential to help this association persist.
